Tired eating is no bueno

Today was a difficult day.  I went to bed late last night and I woke up way too early, so I was so tired today. If I’m tired, I’m a moody overeating mess.  I have very little will power.  I also grab for bread, butter and diet coke.  You know how they say you shouldn’t grocery shop hungry?  Well, I shouldn’t grocery shop tired.  I bought a few sabotaging items.  I bought these amazing 5oz fresh rolls.  They are huge and delicious. I had to have one but I didn’t eat the whole roll.  I cut off about 1/3, weighed it and put the rest in the freezer.  That’s a victory for me because I love love love fresh bread.

I promised myself I would not beat myself up for having days that aren’t “perfect” in my mind.  Perfect is silly anyway because it’s impossible.  I will forever have to be mindful of my eating and I will forever have days where I have no self control.  The goal is to not beat myself up and throw in the towel.  I’m not going to the gym tonight but I do have a scheduled 4 mile run tomorrow.  I usually have a toast with peanut butter an hour before my run but tomorrow I’m only going to have a half of a banana.  I was so sluggish on Monday so I’m hoping eating less with make a difference.

Ceviche, I love you!

I ran 3.5 miles this morning and it was such a hard run. I struggled throughout.  I was glad that I did one big loop instead of laps.  I wouldn’t have lasted with laps.  I have a celebration tonight with my eating.  I went out to dinner with two spectacular friends and we went to this amazing restaurant called Cuba in the West Village. Everything on the menu looked so delicious. I would've seriously gone to town but instead I took some advice that I heard in a weight watchers meeting; I ordered two appetizers. So I ordered a delicious arugula salad as my appetizer and then I asked for the ceviche as my main course.  The ceviche was so delicious that I am determined to re-create it.  I think I want ceviche everyday in my life.  Once I've  mastered it, I will post the recipe, I promise. I did take a few bites of the other plates and it was enough. I also treated myself to large bottle of sparkling water with lime.

Tomorrow I hope to go to a body conditioning class.  It all depends on motivation and scheduling with my hubby.

Still inspired

Today was another great day.  I just feel so good. I've been eating a lot of fruit and vegetables which makes it easier for me not to snack.  I'm drinking a ton of water and I've also not had a diet coke since Friday. That's a big deal because usually I have one everyday. Diet coke is evil.  I don't have all the scientific evidence but I'm convinced it's out there that D coke makes you overeat.  I've also not had coffee in almost a month. I'm taking a break from coffee because I was drinking way too much and I noticed my energy would drop after I had a few cups.  I know it was the sugar and not the caffeine but I can't have coffee without my sugar and cream, just isn't worth it to me.  Tomorrow I'm scheduled for three miles and I may do more but three is the goal.  How great are our Olympians?!  They inspire me so much!

Here I come Half Marathon

Well today I officially start my mental training for the half marathon I’m running in October.  I have ten weeks to train and get my body ready for the longest run I’ve ever done.  I’m really excited about this because I just completed a 7 mile race that was very hilly and I did great.  I felt so good from the start to the end.  This just blows my mind because when I started running over a year ago, I couldn’t run for 5 minutes without stopping.  I use to say: “I’m not a runner,” “Running is for skinny people, I’m too fat.”  I always looked at running as something that was for people who were in great shape and that certainly wasn’t me.  Now I will say proudly, “I’m a runner and a badass.”

So my mental training involves healthy eating which includes: no drinking, no coffee, and sugar in moderation. I still do weight watchers but this “mental training” for my marathon is not to lose weight.  I don’t give a shit about the weight I will lose or not lose.  I don’t give a shit about the size of my jeans.  I want to be as prepared as I can be for this big goal of 2012. I'm also going to cheer myself on even when I don't make the best food choices or don't follow through with a run or  exercise class.  I'm going to be my most supportive cheerleader.  It starts with me and if I'm beating myself up, I don't have a chance.   To keep myself accountable and truthful I’m also going to blog daily until my race.
Food diary as of 3:00 p.m. eastern:
Breakfast- 1 banana 1/2 cup fat free plain greek yogurt. This is too little of a breakfast but I was in a hurry to get out of the house.
Snack: 5 large olives
Lunch-Big salad with: garbanzo beans, grilled chicken, broccoli, tomatoes, sprouts, 1 tbsp honey mustard, and 2 tbsp of balsamic vinegar.
1 banana
Dinner Plan:
Small salad, 5 oz grilled chicken, 1 cup grilled peppers and onions, sour cream, salsa, and 1 cup brown rice.
Obstacle:
I have a date with my hubby tonight and we’re going to the movies and then out for dessert.  My plan is to walk downtown to Rice to Riches since it’s my honey’s favorite.  The walk is a mile and right next door there’s a Pink Berry so I can have frozen yogurt with fruit.  Then we can walk back to Union Square which is another mile.  The date isn’t about the food right, it’s about walking and enjoying this awesome guys company.  I’m also going to take fruit and my own popcorn to the movies.  Oh and water no diet coke.
One more thing....it would be so much fun if you shared your 10 week goal with me.  Tell me what you want to do.  Maybe it’s walk up to 2 miles or run your first 5k.  I would love to know.
